Does your computer feel like it's running slow as molasses? Well I have some cheap or free solutions to help speed up your pc's performance.
1. First step I would suggest is to get rid of all the junk.
Download this free software called PC Decrapifier. It gets rid of preinstalled programs and junk files that aren't needed or really necessary quickly and easily.
Another nice program that I personally use and will allow you to do this is called CCleaner. CCleaner also gets rid of the same junk files but can run a bit deeper scans than PC Decrapifier can. SlimCleaner is also another useful software program that works just the same.
You can download them free using these links and give them a test.
2. While not free unless you know someone that has some extra RAM, it's a quick and cheap way to upgrade your desktop PC or notebook PC. You can purchase some on the internet as long as you know the right size you would need to install and you also would need to know if you have extra RAM slots inside your PC.
Head over to Kingston to use its search feature to find the right size you need.
3. Defragmenting your hard drive is really a good thing to do periodically.
Defraging your drive helps by moving the empty disk space together sort of like, squishing the used space together so that the hard drive can run the processes it needs to run quickly.
I would suggest to do this at least once a week since stuff usually gets downloaded, moved around and deleted all the time.
It can be accessed from:
- Windows Vista/7: Start > All Programs > Accessories >System Tools > Disk Defragmenter
- Windows 8: Open the Charms bar and search for "Optimize Drives" and then click on Defragment and optimize your drives
Regular updates for the drivers should be manually checked to make sure that the drivers are up to date and current too.
I hope you enjoyed this quick guide and it helps out some people.
